Treatments and Approach
We specialise in providing evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), EMDR and Schema Therapy. All these approaches are used around the world to treat a wide range of problems, both common and not so common. Importantly, clinical trials have been conducted that have shown them to be effective.
The most effective approach will depend on your specific concerns, personal preferences and the evidence-base underlying different treatments for each person’s presenting mental health difficulties. Examples include that for depression, a variety of methods can be helpful depending on your symptoms, length of time struggling with mental health and treatment approaches you may have previously tried (i.e. CBT, Behavioural Activation for Depression, ACT, Schema Therapy). If you’re dealing with relationship challenges, therapies like CBT or ACT may be especially beneficial. For broader trauma-related issues, approaches such as DBT or Schema Therapy might offer the most support. Your psychologist will work with you to determine the best path forward and will guide you through the treatment process with clarity and open communication.
